As much as I wanted to move on, we are still 3 coaches shy of ensuring that every child can participate. I sent home a second request for volunteers today. As I mentioned to the students and on the request, the volunteers can be grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc.
Hopefully, today was the final "house keeping" session. I would like to move forward with lessons next week, so please make sure you send in your child's permission slip by the 28th of September. So far, we have 3 brave parents who have stepped up and offered to be a coach. Given the fact that we have 42 students, we need a minimum of 9 parents to act as coaches. So, as of now we are 6 short. So, if you are on the fence, go ahead and take the plunge. I promise that in the end you will be happy you did.
As for the competition...it's been announced. (Apparently, it has been up for some time on the HCPL website. Usually, I get an email from the higher ups in the Science dept. at the time the library announces it.) This year's challenge....erase a chalkboard!
Our first class will be Mon., Sep. 21st. (Permission slips will go out shortly.)
Today was the info session for Rube Goldberg. 40 brave students took the plunge and signed up for this year's Rube Goldberg challenge! I'm looking forward to a great experience.
I announced the date of the info session at today's 5th grade lunch period.
The Rube Goldberg Challenge info session will be held on Fri., Sep. 4th at recess. Please talk with your child about whether they are interested in this or not. If they show even the slightest interest encourage them to attend the meeting as there is no obligation at that time to join.
When we begin offering this seminar, we will use this blog site to post important information about upcoming meetings, objectives taught, activities accomplished, etc.
