After learning about games from other countries, students chose two games that they would like to play. Here are some pictures from their fun!
Groups listened to the story, On the Same Day in March. When we return from Spring Break, we will continue to complete activities with this book.
Happy Spring Break!
Over the past few weeks, we have been completing activities using the book, Everybody Cooks Rice. After our initial read, we discussed the various cultures within the story and their similarities/differences. Then, students put their nose to the test and conducted an investigation wafting a variety of spices (some that were mentioned in the story) to see if they could identify them based on their smell. This week, we are checking our responses to see how close we were!
This week we read the book, How My Parents Learned to Eat, the story of a child's parents from two different cultures. We discussed the idea of customs and the importance of having respect for others' customs, even if different from our own. Then we tried our skill at using chopsticks!
After identifying the continents on a world map, we listened to the story If the World Were a Village. Then we represented the population of the world using a hundred chart and compared it with the world map.
This CEU will begin the week of January 25th. Look for permission slips to come home shortly.
