Campaigning for Office
In this seminar, students will try and get a fictitious candidate elected in an election held among 2nd graders. The candidates will only be know by "A, B, C, D, and so on". (No images or political parties will be used.) Each campaign team will use mediums such as posters, handouts, celebrity spokespeople, and announcements at lunches and on the intercom. The catch is that they will have a budget and each medium will cost money. Students will need to craft messages, create material, and decide where to focus their attention, etc. based on survey data.
